Tip of the Month: Customizing Your Bible Reading Plan

A recent e-mail from a Logos user prompted this month's tip. In the Bible Reading Plan she wanted to be able to read a Psalm from five different groups of Psalms and a Proverb every day. For example, on Day 1 she wanted to be able to read Psalms 1,31,61,91,121 and Proverbs 1. On Day 2, Psalms 2,32,62,92,122 and Proverbs 2 and so on. Believe it or not, the Bible Reading Plan will produce such a plan.

Choose File | New | Bible Reading Plan to create a new plan.

You'll notice the "pipe" ( | ) between each grouping. This is the all important key. For each day's reading, Logos takes a passage from each group sectioned off with the "pipe" symbol.

If you just want to read a Psalms and a Proverb a day, type this : Psalms | Proverbs.

To read from the Pentateuch and gospels each day, type this: Genesis -Deuteronomy | Matthew-John

You get the idea. Have fun and create whatever specialized plan(s) you need.

Book of the Month: Biographical Dictionaries of Evangelicals

I'm sure you've found yourself reading a Libronix book, only to come across a name from church history like, Zwingli or Zinzendorf. If you're like me, you ask yourself, "Who was he and what did he do?" If you can get to a book quickly, you'll probably look up the man or woman. If it's too much trouble, you'll just keep reading without adding to your church history knowledge. Here's a book and a trick that should help.

Biographical Dictionary of Evangelicals, a book available for purchase from Logos, gives brief biographical sketches of men and women in church history.

Check My Library to see if you own this book. If you do, follow these steps:

Choose Tools | Options | KeyLink

Change the Data Type to English

Click KeyLinking on the left

From the Default Order of Resources and Actions box select Biographical Dictionary of Evangelicals

Click Promote

If you have promoted other resources, make sure Biographical Dictionary of Evangelicals is in the top eight by using the Up and Down buttons

Click Close

Now in any Libronix resource right click on a person's name from church history like Luther.
From the right menu select Selected Text: "Luther" | Biographical Dictionary

The book opens right to an article about this great reformer. I use this trick all the time in my personal study. Enjoy!
