Tip of the Month: Change the Color of the Bible Cross References

Recently I was working in New Naves Topical Bible
in the article entitled "Word of God". I was looking at the sections in the article such as: "Called Book," "Book of the Lord," "Book of the Law," etc. I was having difficulty seeing the titles of the sections because the blue Bible cross references and the regular black text were running together. So I temporarily changed the color of the Bible cross references to a light gray so they faded to the background and the section titles came to the forefront. Here's how to do it:
- Choose Tools | Options | KeyLinks
- Set the Data Type to Bible
- Click Display
- Click a different color like the light gray
- Click Close
Also you can change the color of the green pop-ups and the red links by changing the Data Type to Popup and Resource Links respectively.
Book of the Month: John MacArthur Books
According to a recent blog, Logos created a new web page listing all of the John MacArthur books in the Libronix format. If you own some or all of these books, you'll want to download the search collection I've defined at
mpseminars.com. This collection will enable you to search at one time the MacArthur books you own. Keep in mind you do not have to own all of the books to benefit from this search collection.
I recommend searching this collection with the Reference Browser. For example, let's say you're studying 2 Timothy 3.16 and you want to read what John MacArthur has written regarding the passage:
- Open the Reference Browser from the Go menu
- Set the In box to the MacArthur Books Search Collection
- Set the Type to Bible
- Type 2 Timothy 3.16 in the Find box
- Click Search
- Click a Result to jump to that location
This search is like having an exhaustive Scripture reference index for all of John MacArthur books.
Of course, you can use the Basic Search dialog to locate words and phrases in this collection as well.
Product of the Month: The I-beam of Sermon Building
I (Morris) recently completed a new manual entitled The I-beam of Sermon Building. This resource is the result of being asked what procedure I personally use to prepare expository sermons. Over the years I had become comfortable "just preparing sermons"
without consciously thinking through the steps. I have now codified and recorded the process I use.
I believe effective sermons should fulfill the two great principles of being Faithful to the Text and Functional for Today. Using the analog of an I-beam, I guide you through 6 steps to building a sermon and then greatly expand the 6th step.
Included in the manual is a sermon worksheet that you can copy and use for each sermon or lesson you develop. This manual does not teach any Libronix features, but rather takes the information gleaned from the Logos Bible study and forms it into a sermon. We also are planning in the near future to offer the I-beam as a live seminar and DVD training set.
Whether you're new to preaching or a
seasoned preacher, I think you'll benefit from this manual.
