Tip of the Month: Creating Your Own Markup Styles

Several people recently e-mailed asking how to create their own Palettes and Styles for the Visual Markup system. So here are some suggestions for doing just that:

Keep in mind that Libronix will not allow you to edit any existing Palettes and Styles, but you can copy the existing ones and then make changes to the copies. This is more efficient than just starting from scratch.

  • Choose View | Visual Markup Styles
  • Click Edit
  • Select a Palette in the top box
  • Click Copy
  • Click Rename to assign your own label to this Palette

The Styles for this Palette are now listed in the bottom box.

  • Click one of the Styles
  • I suggest that you now click Edit so that you can see all of the details of this Style and learn how to create your own Style
  • Click Cancel to return to the Edit Visual Markup Styles window
  • Make one of the following three choices:
    • If you want to create a new Style from scratch:
      • Click Add
    • If you want to make changes to an existing Style of:
      • Select the Style
      • Click Edit
    • If you want to base your new Style on an existing Style without erasing the existing Style:
      • Select a Style
      • Click Copy To
      • Select the correct Palette from the list
      • Click OK
      • Select your Style from the list
      • Click Edit

Once you're in the Add or Edit Palette Style window you can have fun. Use your creative side as you go through all of the options creating your own new Style. You won't hurt a thing so just experiment until you create the Style you like. Now repeat the above steps for more new Styles.

Tip of the Month: Backing Up and Reinstalling Libronix

I am often asked how to back up Libronix files and reinstall the program on another computer. Rather than go through all of the details here, I have created a short video on our website to walk you through the steps. If you will follow all of the instructions in the video you can reinstall Libronix on a new computer in a short period of time.

Book of the Month: Bible Reader's Companion

The Bible Reader's Companion by Larry Richards is found in several of the Logos Bible Software base collections. This book is very interesting in that it is part commentary, Bible dictionary, Bible handbook, introduction, manners and customs, and outlines rolled into one . If you are new to Bible study or teach a Bible study class you will love this resource. It places all relevant information for a study of any book of the bible right at you fingertips.

In Libronix this book is versified which means you can:

Open it and type a Bible reference in its location box and jump right to that location when you press the Enter key.

Also, you can link it to one of your Bibles and it will move in unison with the Bible.

This resource is also topically indexed which means you can search it with the Topic Browser to discover every place Richards discusses the temple, prayer, grace, or whatever subject you desire.

If you have never look closely at this book give it a peek. I think you'll enjoy it.
