Tip of the Month: Changing Options in Libronix

I have recently received several e-mails regarding changing various options in Libronix. I'll list several below that people have been asking about. All of these changes can be accessed from the menu at Tools | Options | General. Once the Options dialog opens, click on the appropriate selection from the left hand side of the window as described below:

Click General to:

Select Your Citation Style
From the Citation Style drop down list select the Style that your school requires. Now when you copy/paste text from Libronix to your word processor, the text will be footnoted according to this style.

Change What Libronix Does At Startup
From the At Startup options select what you would like Libronix to do each time you launch the program.

Click Interface to:

Turn Off Libronix Startup Music
If you don't wish to hear the Libronix theme song when you start the program, uncheck Play Sounds. This will NOT affect other sounds like Greek pronunciation.

List Book Titles Only Once in My Library
By default, My Library lists resource titles multiple times. For example, the King James Version of the Bible shows up as KJV, Authorized Version, King James Version , etc. If you only want to list each book once according to its primary title, then check the box, Use Only Primary Resource Titles in My Library.

Turnoff Footnotes When Printing or Copying
Any imbedded footnotes in Libronix text will be included when you print or copy the text. To automatically remove these footnotes uncheck the boxes Include Footnotes when Printing / Copying.

Click Text Display to:

Change the Default Text Size of Your Books
The text size of all of your resources is 100%. If you'd like to have an instant large print library then select a new percentage from the Default Zoom drop down list.

Change the Font
If you want to change the font used in your resources from Times New Roman to Sans Serif then check the Prefer Sans Serif Fonts for Resources box.

Book of the Month: High Definition New Testament (HDNT)

Rather than write about a book you perhaps already have, this month I want to encourage you to purchase a new resource that is currently on Logos pre-pub: the High Definition New Testament (HDNT) . For the past week I have been locked up in my study with this one of a kind, never before produced, groundbreaking book. When I first heard about this new Bible, I asked myself probably what you're asking right now, What in the world is a high definition Bible? I'll keep my answer short and sweet.

Just like a High-Definition Television (HDTV) brings out details we don't see with a normal TV, the HDNT brings out details from the Greek text that we do not normally see in an English Bible. With word order and certain Greek grammatical constructions, the original authors would emphasize, highlight, draw attention to, or contrast words and phrases in their writings. Many, if not most, of these details are lost in translation from Greek to English.

For example, Matthew 16.3 in the ESV says "You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times."

Through visual markings, the HDNT points out the literal meaning which is "WHILE you know how to interpret the appearance of the sky,  ON THE OTHER HAND you cannot interpret the signs of the times." See the difference? Matthew was building anticipation with more of the story to come but we lose that detail in the English Bible.

This is but one of many, many highlights the HDNT brings out. For the first time we English readers can see the clarity and detail of the Greek New Testament even though we may not be Greek scholars.

To get the special package price, make sure to go to the pre-pub page and sign up for both the English and Greek interlinear versions of these brand new Logos resources. In the very near future I'll be saying much more about the HDNT!
