♦ Search a Book for a Bible Reference Imagine you’re studying Ephesians 1:7 in your ESV Reverse Interlinear. You double click “forgiveness” to execute a KeyLink for the underlying Greek word in the Theological Dictionary of the NT , Abridged (TDNTA). You notice in the TDNTA that Ephesians 1:7 is listed as a reference for the definition of forgiveness. So you now ask yourself “I wonder if Ephesians 1:7 is listed elsewhere in the TDNTA?” Here’s how to locate every occurrence of a Bible reference in the book you’re currently using: ♦ Right click on a Bible reference in any book (in our example Ephesians 1:7 in the TDNTA) ♦ Select Selected Reference: your verse ♦ Select Speed Search This Resource ♦ A Search Results window opens displaying every time your Bible verse is cited as reference in this book! Click a link to jump to that location. Notice your verse is highlighted in the book so you can quickly locate it. |
| ♦ Link the Reference Browser to a Bible
♦ Set the In box to the desired book(s) you wish to search ♦ Set the Type box to Bible ♦ Type in the Find box the Scripture reference you're looking for ♦ Click Search Every occurrence of your reference is listed almost instantly! Notice in the lower right hand corner of the Reference Browser a little box called Link to Active Window. This tiny little box dramatically increases the power of the browser. Here's how: Let's say you're doing some study in the Gospel of John. So you have open on the screen your Bible and the classic book The Training of the Twelve by AB Bruce. Since this book is not versified you can't link it to your Bible but you can let the Reference Browser find Bruce's discussion of any verse. ♦ Open the Reference Browser ♦ Set the In box to The Training of the Twelve ♦ Set the Type box to Bible ♦ Check the Link to Active Window box ♦ Go to John 17 in your Bible Every time Bruce mentions John 17 in his book is displayed in the browser! |
